Asturfeito and General Dynamics European Land Systems – Santa Bárbara Sistemas (GDELS-SBS) have reached a collaboration agreement within the framework of the Latvia Programme, whereby Asturfeito will be responsible for the design, manufacture and supply of fuel tanks for combat vehicles based on the HUNTER platform, which will be assembled at the GDELS plant in Trubia (Asturias).
Based in Avilés and with extensive experience as a leading industrial supplier, Asturfeito reaffirms its position in the defence sector with this project, contributing its expertise in engineering, manufacturing and quality control for highly demanding components. The company has previously demonstrated a high capacity for adaptation, having already supplied equipment subject to the strict regulations governing international defence programmes.
The HUNTER combat vehicle is a state-of-the-art land platform, renowned for its versatility, modularity and high level of protection. Designed to operate in a wide range of scenarios, the HUNTER incorporates integrated solutions that guarantee optimal mission performance.
This agreement with GDELS-SBS represents another step forward in Asturfeito’s diversification strategy and reinforces its commitment to developing critical industrial capabilities for the defence sector in Spain and Europe. The company, with virtually all of its turnover coming from international markets and experience in sectors such as nuclear, oil & gas, aerospace and large scientific infrastructures, is now adapting to the challenges of the current geopolitical environment, offering solutions that combine technical rigour and maximum reliability.
‘Collaborating in the HUNTER programme allows us to put our technical knowledge, industrial infrastructure and highly qualified team at the service of European defence. Projects of this kind confirm that Asturian industry is ready to compete and add value to major international defence programmes, and we are therefore grateful to GDELS-SBS for the opportunity to collaborate on the project,’ said Asturfeito.
GDELS-SBS emphasises that ‘the choice of national industrial partners capable of meeting the highest standards of quality and reliability is key to ensuring the autonomy and strength of the defence industry in Europe’.
