Successful Dissassembly and Delivery of TMA for LSST Telescope.

01.09.2019 – On December 2018, Asturfeito completed with success the Fabrication, Integration and Final Factory Acceptance Tests for the 400 ton LSST Telescope Mount Assembly

01.09.2019 – On December 2018, Asturfeito completed with success the Fabrication, Integration and Final Factory Acceptance Tests for the 400 ton LSST Telescope Mount Assembly. On that date, green light was given for dissassembly and packing, which has been finalized on May 2019. 22-off oversized assemblies plus hundreds of medium size components packed on 25-off regular containers have been transported from Asturfeito facilities to Avilés port, only 2km away. The cargo has been loaded into vessels that will reach the Chilean port. Special road transport convoys take the pieces to the mountain Cerro Pachón at 2600m. altitude. Everything is now prepared for the most exciting stage, the Integration and Testing at the mountain, to be also performed by Asturfeito technical assembly team. It is estimated one year for this part of the project. On final stage client will install optics and camera. With all, the telescope will be ready for a 10-years photograpic survey of the sky with the most powerful digital camera ever built.
